Updating Your Bed Linen for Hot Summer Nights
In summer, having the right bed linen is essential to getting a good night’s sleep. You change your wardrobe with the warmer weather and it’s important that you change your bedding too. Whilst some changes may be obvious, we’ve broken down everything you need to know below:
Swap out your duvet

We’re starting with the most obvious. When the warmer weather hits, the first thing you should do is swap out your duvet for something lighter. If you tend to be a warm sleeper, ditch the duvet altogether. It’s a good idea to invest in some nice sheets and use a throw or light blanket in place of your regular duvet.
It’s all in the fabric
Like flannelette sheets in winter, there are types of linen that are ideal for the warmer months. Avoid synthetic blends and stick to natural fibres. Cotton weaves, like percale and sateen, are breathable and are perfect for summer. Percale tends to have a cooler, crisper feel too, making it ideal for people who easily overheat.
Wash your bedding more frequently

As temperatures rise, it’s important to wash your bedding more frequently. Weekly is a good rule for sheets and pillowcases. Use warm water to wash your linen if you can. If you’re going to tumble dry, remove everything just before it’s totally dry and then lay it out on the bedair-drying your linens this way will help prevent wrinkles.
Use colours

Colour is an easy way to make your room feel lighter at this time of year. Crisp, white bed linen will never go out of style and instantly brightens a room. Cool colours can give any room a breezy, coastal feel (even if you’re nowhere near the water). It’s also easy to introduce bright, summery colours through your bed linen. A bright summer duvet cover and sheet set is an inexpensive way to bring some colour into your bedroom.
